Blaire + Tyler Engaged

I was so honoured when Blaire asked me to be her and Tyler’s wedding photographer. Blaire and I were coworkers back when I was a labour and delivery nurse, and she actually was the nurse that helped bring my son Owen into this world. I think it is so incredibly special that we both will be a part of such milestones in each other’s lives.

We decided on Fort Whyte for the engagements session, and due to extremely bad luck we got one of the coldest days of the year. With this couple consisting of two shift workers, we kept the day and I am so happy we did. These two snuggled up (partially due to necessity for warmth) and laughed together the majority of the session. And can we just take a moment please to appreciate the gorgeous vintage coat Blaire is wearing! I am so grateful she shopped in her future mother in law’s closet just before the session because that coat is EVERYTHING!

Phil + Erin Engaged

As I am gearing up for wedding season I am so happy to finally be getting some engagement sessions up on the blog. Phil + Erin are such a warm, funny and easy going couple, I had such a blast at our consult I felt like we had known each other for such a long time, and their engagement session was no different. Now I honestly can say the three of us were in full blown laughter 80% of the time, and then they were kissing the other 20% (my favourite kind of engagement session). I am so excited to photograph their July wedding at the beautiful and historic Lower Fort Garry. Side note, I love when couples do winter engagement sessions for summer weddings. I also love the location of this session; Whittier Park, not just for sentimental reasons (my husband and I got married at Fort Gibraltar), but because it is just incredibly stunning. The wooden fence around the fort is such a beautiful backdrop for any season, but I especially love the warm feel it has for winter shoots. Fun fact, the park was in full blown construction mode, so we stayed in a small corner of the park but there was such variety in the images you can’t even tell.

Hannah + Rob

I can’t believe its finally starting to feel like spring/summer and I am about to start blogging all of my snowy sessions. This sessions takes us all the way back to very cold November. Hannah + Rob have been married for 3 years at the time of the session, but they couldn’t keep their hands off of each other like newlyweds (which didn’t hurt for warming up). Halfway through the session I (who was dressed in full winter gear) even started to get cold, but these two rocked a tux and gown in the winter cold like champs. I had such a blast with these two and hope our paths cross again soon.

The Klassens

I love getting to see families throughout the years and watching their little ones grow up. I’ve done a few sessions for the Klassens now and they are always such a good time. Little Bo is such a cutie and I was so happy to get to be a part of a big announcement of his during this shoot. Side note; if bonfires and roasting marshmallows could be a part of every session, I would not complain.

Amanda, Scott + Kaitlyn

Due to a very chilly autumn, Amanda + Scott decided to make their autumn family shoot an at home session with a little walk out side to get some of the autumn colours in. This worked our perfectly! Little Kaitlyn loved playing with her favourite toys, cuddling with her parents on the couch and showing me how she could climb up on her toy shelf. Keeping the outdoor portion short was great as it gave her just enough time to explore and play with her dog before she was ready to head back inside. Anyone else with little ones wanting to do this idea for your late fall session this year, I’m game!

The Tennants

Going through the images to blog this session I just fell in love with it all over again. Kelly contacted me requesting a fall family/maternity session as they were expecting their second child in November. As we kept on chatting we kept finding similarities in our lives, which got me super excited for the session. Their little boy, Owen (one of the similarities we had haha) on the other hand wasn’t very excited. It was a chilly day and he was not feeling posing in a field. We did some poses and let him explore and then warm up inside the Living Prairie Museum. Now, images of little ones learning and playing with their parents is super adorable…but then insert the fact that this little boy’s mama is a scientist, then these images of Owen and Kelly looking through a microscope together just get even cuter. Kids are going to be kids, and yes, posed images are nice to have, but its the play/interacting images that truly capture who they are in this point of time, which time and time again make them my favourite.

The Blatz Family

Meet Erika and her adorable little family. Erika is my go to second shooter, so for those couples who have opted for a second shooter this wedding season, you will probably be seeing a lot more of her. I absolutely love these three little goofballs, they always make sessions super fun.

Amelia, Justin, Lily + Landon

I couldn’t have been more honoured to do this family session with this incredible family. I first learnt about Amelia from a coworker of mine when I worked as a labour and delivery nurse. I started following her on Instagram as she is one amazing human being. She has managed to take an experience that no parent should ever have to go through, and built a community of support for grieving parents. She has written a book that has helped so many, inspires people daily on how to live a healthier, less waste lifestyle and is the owner and creator of the most comfortable leggings EVER, that of course are ethical and eco friendly. She does all of this and is also such an incredible mama. I really do hope our paths cross again in the future <3

Archer

“Little” Archer is the son of the oh so talented cake maker Kayla. She makes pretty amazing cakes and as you can see, pretty cute babies. I was so thrilled to get to do an at home newborn lifestyle session for this adorable little family. Even doggy-big-brother Bender got snuggled up for some photos. Enjoy :)

Chantal + Chris Married

Chantal + Chris’ late September wedding was my last wedding of 2018. This beautiful intimate ceremony in Henteleff Park, followed by a dinner at 529 Wellington was the perfect way to end off my wedding season. They then generously put on a get together with all their close friends and family at their house, with the most amazing “cheese cake” I’ve ever seen.

Chantal + Chris

Only weeks before their wedding, on a beautiful September evening, Chantal + Chris and I met up for their engagement session. They lucked out with beautiful fall colours, and they turned out to be even luckier, because the leaves decided to also hang around for their wedding day….which coincidently is my next blog post, so stay tuned! Side note, catching up on blogging all these sessions from the summer and fall is making me long for warmer temperatures, anyone else?

Brooklyn + Derek

Brooklyn + Derek were married on a gorgeous Saturday in August. They had their first look at St. Vital park, and from that moment until the end of the day, these two could not keep their eyes or hands off of each other. They are such a cute, fun and in love couple that they are such a joy to photograph! After the ceremony everyone headed out to Quarry Oaks for the reception. During cocktail hour the whole wedding party hopped into golf carts and we drove around taking photos all over the grounds. We had such a blast that we stayed out until we absolutely had to get back in time for their entrance. The rest of the evening was filled with great food, laughs, love and probably the liveliest dance floor I have ever seen!

Fiona + Daulton Married

I believe my last post ended off with asking for more backyard weddings…well conveniently my next wedding was another backyard wedding! This beautiful property was filled with stunning trees and large fields, the perfect place for Fiona + Daulton to tie the knot. From the breathtaking handmade backdrop, the mason jars hanging in trees, the amazing food, cotton candy sunset, great conversation and all the love in the air, it was a fantastic day. Enjoy <3

Katherine + Shay Married

Katherine + Shay were married in the beginning of August at Katherine’s parents’ Charleswood home. The girls started the day getting ready at the home and then the limo picked us up to meet the boys at Assiniboine Forest for the first look and some wedding party pictures. We then went downtown for some pictures before heading back to the Charleswood home for an intimate backyard wedding. Luckily mother nature cooperated for most of the day, and waited until just after speeches to start raining. I loved all the happy vibes, tears and intimate nature of the day. Give me all the backyard weddings please!!!

Fiona + Daulton

Only a couple weeks before their wedding, Fiona + Daulton frolicked in the fields of Birds Hill Park for their engagement session. These two were so much fun and could not keep their hands off each other, but sweet Fiona was sick and would not kiss Daulton the whole session in fear of getting him sick for their wedding. Despite being sick these two had so much fun together exploring the park, and even took me back to the exact tree where Daulton proposed <3

Sam + Tyler Married

Well apparently it’s been about half a year since I’ve blogged a session…So I thought I’d start 2019 off right by blogging this gorgeous July wedding. Sam + Tyler met back in high school (where they took me back to on there wedding day for some pictures) and started their love story shortly after. They had a beautiful ceremony at St Charles Parish and reception at St Charles Country Club. These two were all smiles all day which made for a great time. They are such a lovely, caring and thoughtful couple, I could not be more honoured to have been a part of their day. Also, they probably had some of the most entertaining wedding speeches I’ve heard…especially from the bride’s brother… the bride’s reaction to be seen near the end of the gallery ;) Enjoy
